Trolltech Releases Alpha Version of Qt for Mac OS X Using Cocoa

Previews Qt/Mac using the Cocoa API - enabling 64-bit applications on Mac OS X

Oslo, 03 March - 2008 - Trolltech today announced a first preview alpha release of its Qt cross-platform development framework for Mac® OS X using the Cocoa API. This pre-release is the first step towards a fully Cocoa-based Macintosh version of Qt, enabling 64-bit applications and enhanced native look and feel.

"Trolltech's efforts to port Qt to the Cocoa API have been going on for some time, and we have progressed well so far," commented Lars Knoll, Trolltech vice president of engineering.  "The move to extend Qt support of the Mac platform to Cocoa reaffirms Trolltech's vision of Qt Everywhere: delivering a cross-platform development framework on all major operating systems."

The release is available now for community testing and feedback.

Based on feedback gathered from this alpha release, Trolltech plans to release a beta of the Qt/Mac Cocoa port in summer 2008.  Final delivery of the Cocoa port is planned with Qt 4.5.
